Design Narrative is a full-service interior design firm based in Austin. Founded by Amanda Bruemmer and Rachel Henderson, the firm combines extensive design experience with expertise in new construction, remodeling, and single-space projects, collaborating closely with architects, builders, lighting designers, and engineers. Our projects are based throughout Texas and across the country.
We prioritize an exceptional client experience through an established process that begins with a meticulous initial consultation, where we define the project goals, budget, and timeline requirements.
Our design process is visually driven through drawings, renderings and 3D models. Projects are managed with budgets, specification schedules, and close coordination throughout the construction process. Our furnishings procurement team ensures an excellent experience installing furnishings, art and accessories. We take immense pride in our work and we are dedicated to taking care of our clients.
Our Team
Amanda Bruemmer
FounderAmanda Bruemmer was born in England and lived there until her mid-twenties, when she moved to the USA with her husband. Before settling in Texas for the past 30 years, she lived in Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. She also spent three years living in Slovakia with her husband and young family.
Her love of the arts and design has shaped her life. Dance has been a passion since the age of three, leading to formal training and performances in both classical and contemporary ballet. Returning to Texas from Slovakia provided the perfect opportunity for her to pursue her studies in interior design.
Her experience living in multiple cultures and traveling extensively throughout the world has greatly influenced her interior design career. Having raised four boys and five dogs, she understands how to balance comfort, function, and the sanctuary of a home without compromising design. Her diverse portfolio includes family homes, vacation homes, empty-nester residences, downtown condos, and single-space projects within each of these categories.
FounderRachel Henderson
Rachel is a native Austinite and a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she studied Interior Design in the School of Architecture. Fascinated by homes, families, and the patterns of everyday life, residential design is her true passion.
Rachel’s creativity is fueled by music, cooking, travel and people. Connecting and collaborating with clients, architects, builders and craftsmen is a constant source of inspiration.
Rachel deeply values her clients’ trust and the meaningful relationships that grow through creating a home together.
Most of all she loves living in a ‘house of boys’ with her husband and two young sons. Color is abundant, function is tested daily, comfort is key, and to Rachel, the balance is beautiful.
